Following a planning effort that began in June 2024, Huntingdon County has updated its 2020 Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). On November 24, 2025, notification was received from FEMA that the 2025 HMP is Approved Pending Adoption. The Huntingdon County Commissioners will adopt the 2025 HMP by resolution. All municipalities who participated in planning meetings and submitted required documentation will also be adopting the Plan by resolution. Plan adoption by Huntingdon County and eligible municipalities complies with the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act.; and the plan helps communities secure disaster assistance and mitigation funding.

The 2025 HMP update was prepared by MCM Consulting Group, Inc., with input from a local planning team, municipalities, and stakeholders.
