Curbside Recycling Program

Curbside Recycling Program

Huntingdon County's Recycling Office and Ralph Park have rolled out a new curbside recycling program for the residents of McConnellstown and the outlying developments.

Recycling bins may be picked up at the Township office during normal business hours.

The innovative concept behind this program is that it allows recycled materials to be placed in the same container. The materials are later separated at a recycling facility. As with other recycling programs, materials must be properly prepared. Only the following the materials will be collected:

· Plastic bottles with necks smaller than the bases - make sure to remove the lids or caps.

· Clear, Green & Brown glass food and beverage container. Bottles, Jugs & Jars.

· Aluminum beverage cans, steel food & beverage cans & Bi-metal & empty aerosol cans.

· Newspapers & glossy inserts, Phone books, catalogs, magazines & junk mail. Office paper, strands of shredded paper & paperboard (cereal & shoe boxes, etc.)

· Cardboard - flatten/pull boxes apart

The Voluntary Curbside Recycling Program is a cooperative effort between Huntingdon County and local waste haulers. Additional information on how to recycle and what you are to recycle will be available when you pick-up your new yellow container.

Pick up's will begin on Wednesday, June 4th, and will continue every two weeks.  Containers must be placed curbside before 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, and the lids should be removed and left in a safe place in your home.
