Requirements: License to Carry a Concealed Firearms Permit
Applicant must be at least 21 years of age. Proof of age and residency will be requested when the application is submitted. A post office box will not be accepted as a legal residence. A 2”x2” passport type photo (full face, head and shoulders) must accompany each application.
On the front of the application, complete blocks 1-29 entering all information requested. In block 28 check which type of permit you are requesting. Block 30 is for character references. You must have two references listed that are not family members and both must reside in Huntingdon County. Also you should include a daytime phone where we can reach them Monday – Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. The references should be reputable citizens who have known you for a considerable length of time.
In blocks 31 to 40 answer each question with a “yes” or “no” in the space at the right. In blocks 31, 32 and 33 further explanations are listed on the back of the application form.
Once you have completed all the questions read the paragraph, which is block 41 of the form, then sign and date the application. Deputies of this office will do a thorough background check on each applicant. Any falsifications made on this application, may be a violation of section 4904 (relating to unsworn falsification to authorities).
Please contact our office two weeks after you drop your application off, you may contact us to see if it has been approved or disapproved.
The permit itself is good for five years and is good for all legal firearms you may own. Therefore, it is not necessary for you to provide us with the make and serial numbers of each firearm you may own.
The total cost of the permit is $25.00. A payment of $10.00 must accompany the application upon returning it. The balance of $15.00 is to be paid upon receiving your permit. If your application is rejected, the $10.00 fee will not be returned. The applicant must drop off this application at the Sheriff’s Office personally. When the permit is approved the applicant must pick the permit up personally.
