An alumni reunion of Leadership Huntingdon County was recently hostd by Lanes Country Homestead in Todd, owned by Bruce Lane, a member of the first leadership class. Nine members of the Class of 2004 and three members of the Class of 2005 along with family and friends joined for an afternoon of food and fun. Leadership Huntingdon County spokesman, Richard Stahl, stated that the leadership program wants to devlop a network of leaders who are engaged in community development and revitalization in the County.
Bruce and Lydia Lane, owners and operators of Lanes Country Homestead, welcomed their guests to beautiful Trough Creek Valley on a sunny July Saturday for what is hoped to be an annual reuinion for alumni of Leadership Huntingdon County. The covered dish pininc dinner consisted of grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, salads, and desserts.
After dinner, Bruce took the group on a hay ride tour of the partially completed Luciana Bottoms - West Mine Reclamation Project on nearby Rocky Ridge. Lane explained that the 77 acre site had been both deep and strip mined over an extended period of time. Site reclamation has been done by E.M. Brown, Inc. under a federally funded mine reclamation program in order to eliminate dangerous high walls and acid mine drainage.
Attending for the Class of 2004 were: Bruce Lane, Amy Foster, Melody English, Debra Gregory, Mike Fleck, Mary Scott, Richard Stahl, and Carl Jaymes. The Class of 2005 was represented by: Jennifer Stahl, Mike Dudley, and Christine Maxwell. A total of twelve of the twenty-two in attendance were leadership class graduates.
