Huntingdon County Planning Commission
The Huntingdon County Planning Commission was first established by County Ordinance on November 15, 1962. The Planning Commission is directly responsible to the Board of County Commissioners and is responsible for preparing plans for the County in areas of: transportation, land use, economy and employment, community services, conservation, recreation and open space, sewer and water, solid waste, energy, and housing. According to County Ordinance the Planning Commission consists of nine members appointed by the Commissioners. The Planning Commission operates under the provisions of the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, Act 247. The Commission is assisted in carrying out its responsibilities by the Planning and Development Department.
The Huntingdon County Planning Commission meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm in Huntingdon County Annex I, Conference Room, 205 Penn Street, Huntingdon, PA 16652. The Planning Commission's mailing address and phone number are:

Southern Alleghenies Planning & Development Commission
The Southern Alleghenies Commission was established in 1967 to be a nonprofit corporation, authorized by several County governments to engage in regional planning and development in the Counties of Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Fulton, Huntingdon and Somerset. The purpose of the Commission is to promote the orderly and efficient economic development of the Region and the Counties and the Municipalities contained therein.
