In addition to County row offices and departments, Huntingdon County delivers services through a variety of Authorities, Boards and Commissions. These organizations have been created by the County Commissioners, and their governing bodies are appointed by the Commissioners. Municipal authorities have been created by the County under the authority of the Pennsylvania Municipalities Act of 1945. The County has elected to cooperate with adjoining counties in delivering services such as economic development, mental health and aging. Finally, state law authorizes the creation of various boards and commissions either in an advisory role or for direct delivery of services.
