SANITARY SEWER DEPARTMENT 

The Mount Union Borough Sanitary Sewer Department is part of the Borough's combined Public Works Department and consists of the following employees:

Mount Union Borough’s state-of-the-art sewage treatment plant has a capacity of 995,000 gallons per day. It is located on North Drake Street adjacent to Melvin Diven Park in the northern section of Mount Union Borough (First Ward).

 

In addition to serving the entire Borough Of Mount Union, the Mount Union Borough Sanitary Sewer System currently serves all or parts of the following three (3) municipalities in two (2) Counties through several separate intermunicipal sewage treatment and conveyance agreements: Shirley Township (Shirley Township General Authority)/Huntingdon County (parts), Kistler Borough/Mifflin County (entire municipality), and Wayne Township (West Wayne Sewer Authority)/Mifflin County (parts).

 

During 2009 and 2010, the service area of the Mount Union Borough Sanitary Sewer System will expand under a yet to be negotiated sewage treatment and conveyance agreement to include the proposed service area of the Newton-Wayne Joint Authority: Newton-Hamilton Borough/Mifflin County (entire municipality) and the Campground, Country Club Drive, and Silverford Heights Areas of Wayne Township/Mifflin County.

The Mount Union Borough Water Department is also part of the Borough's combined Public Works Department and consists of the following employees:

In addition to serving the entire Borough Of Mount Union, the Mount Union Borough Public Water System currently serves all or parts of the following four (4) municipalities in two (2) Counties:  Kistler Borough/Mifflin County (entire municipality), Newton-Hamilton Borough/ Mifflin County (entire municipality), Shirley Township/Huntingdon County (parts - Hill Valley and Allenport Areas), and Wayne Township/Mifflin County (parts - Campground, Cedar Crest, Country Club Drive, Lucy Furnace, and Silverford Heights Areas).
