The Planning and Development Department is responsible for the administration of the County's planning and community development programs.

The Department is responsible for preparation and maintenance of the Huntingdon County Comprehensive Plan, "Continuity Through Conservation II".

Staff is responsible for development of various functional plans in response to community needs including:

Land Use
Housing
Economic Development
Community Facilities
Cultural Heritage
Natural Resources
Transportation

The Department also provides planning assistance to municipalities in the areas of comprehensive planning, zoning and subdivision regulation.

Planning Commission

The Planning and Development Department serves as the staff support for the Huntingdon County Planning Commission (HCPC).

Community Development

The P&DD administers the County's Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) in conjunction with the HCPC to advance comprehensive community planning at the county level by reviewing the county's needs and recommending planning and community development priorities to the county commissioners.

Economic Development

The P&DD serves as the staff support for Commissioner's led Partnership for Economic Progress (PEP) initiative.
